I put this scope on my AR15 varminter, I love it. The fact that it comes with a sun-shield and lens caps is great. It is the first scope I have owned with illuminated cross-hairs, and I really like them, however, the side focus probably would have been a smarter choice for what I use it for. Pros: First it is a mil dot optic who's mil dots are calibrated at 12 power setting to equal 18 inches for 5 mil dots- your standard mil dot scope setting or ave deer belly to back at 100yds- 18 inches - 5 mil dots. The optics are compact, clear, and adjusts easy, tracks fine for me and is compact enough without being too large or long. I wish I had bought the side focus model CP312AOC just to have the focus feature over the illumination brightness. Good eye relief for an AR-15 platform based use- no heavy recoil.
Cons: the scope angle hood, I would like to look like any other scope, symmetric- aesthetic value of this optic. Other than that, nothing. It is a fine optic for what it does. There are not just 5 mil dots in the reticle, there are 7 in each direction so take that into account when ranging.
Bottom Line: A good optic on an AR hunting rifle platform- 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel without being too long or buying an ACOG, alternative is Leupold's AR 3-9x40 optic that is 12 inches long. I'm happy with my buy of this optic. It works fine for me. I prefer the standard 5 mil dot post to center, but that's just me. 5mil for a deer 18" at 100, 2.5mil for 200yd, 1.67 mil for 300yd, 1.25 for 400yd, 1 mil for 500yd.

1 mil dot is 3.6 inches at 100yds, so for a deer of 18" divided by 3.6"= 5 mil dots at 100yds
Range the target to see extent of your zero range so you can understand your zero range and if the animal is in it, requires mil dot hold overs, or adjusting your elevation and windage accordingly. See chart above as a pic to be included with the scope.

This rifle scope is worth its money. I've been using it on my cal. 30-30 hunting rifle since more than one year now and it works flawlessly. Good buy.
